Jeffreys' NURS (Nursing Undergraduate Retention and Success) Model

“The NURS model proposes that retention decisions will be based on the interaction of student profile characteristics, student affective factors, academic factors, environmental factors, professional integration factors, academic outcomes, psychological outcomes, and outside surrounding factors. Professional integration factors are at the center of the model because they are at the crossroads of the decision to persist, drop out, or stopout.

“The voluntary and/or involuntary decision to remain in a course, persist in the nursing program, graduate, take the RN licensing exam, and enter the nursing workforce and/or begin a more advanced nursing program occurs during and at the conclusion of each nursing course.”
